BRIAN MCCANN HAS A SUPERBAD MOMENT ON HIS BAT
Deadspin has this great picture of Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann who apparently likes to draw things on his bat. I think we could all see this coming when McCann was in high school and admitted his problem with dong drawing....
Right now the move doesn't make a lot of sense unless the Braves plan on trading Yunel Escobar and/or Kelly Johnson for a starting pitcher. I'm assuming this is what they want to do and hopefully they have a deal in place to get Greinke from Kansas City. Greinke would be a great addition IMO. I've heard rumors that they plan on moving Johnson out to left(which is understandable) and move one of either Furcal or Escobar to second base while the other mans shortstop. I don't think it's a good move if that is the reasoning. So in other words my feelings are incomplete right now in regards to the addition of Furcal, or DUIey as I affectionately call him.
Kelly's bat doesn't play as well in LF, and they seemed hesitant to put him out there before because he had TJ surgery, so I think there's going to be another move. The way Yunel plays and the sort of attitude that he brings doesn't seem to jive too well with the "Braves way" that old man Bobby is all about. I think you'll probably see him moved in a package for a starter (preferably Greinke) who KC will probably ask the moon for (and rightfully so). If there would be anything going for us in that sort of deal, though, it's that Dayton Moore has a massive hard-on for anybody the came up with the Braves while he was there.
I would also like to see the Braves sign Adam Dunn because I am a fag for stats and that high OPS he brings to the table. And they could use the 40 HR in the line-up...
I completely agree stat nerd with what you have to say. I'm not a big fan of Dunn but I could see where he would fit in nicely with the Braves. Now it appears Furcal is backing out of the Braves deal and going back to LA because he doesn't want to play second base. They don't really need Furcal anyways. Hopefully they can get some more starting pitching.
Speaking of the Braves, what do you think about the Braves picking Furcal back up?
