Ole Miss Busts A Nutt

Before I dive into the whole "Penn State needs to fire everybody who knew about Jerry Sandusky and did nothing to report it" story I figured I would talk about something a little more upbeat in college football: coaches getting canned. Or as the headline says itself "Ole Miss busts a Nutt."

Ole Miss currently has a 12 game SEC losing streak. It's their worst streak in their horrible history. And now head coach Houston Nutt will be taking the fall. Ole Miss has a 3pm press conference scheduled today when they will announce they are busting a Nutt for shitty coaching.

Things started off well for Nutt in Oxford after leaving Arkansas. He led the Rebels to back-to-back 9 win seasons which ended in Cotton Bowl victories. But the last two seasons have been a disaster. Ole Miss now gets thrown around by teams like Vandy and in this current college football landscape where fans and alumni expect not only instant results but sustained success Nutt is clearly not holding up his end of the bargain.

So now the question is who will be the new coach? I'm sure the usual Urban Meyer, Jon Gruden, and others BS reports will come out. Ole Miss is not a premiere job. It never has been. Which probably means they will be looking to get a hot assistant like Alabama's Kirby Smart or Georgia's Todd Grantham who are familiar with the conference. I hear Joe Paterno will be available.
