Just days before the season is going to kick off we get a giant kick to our Irish nuts...
First off I feel horrible for Shaun Crawford. This is the 3rd, yes, 3rd time he has gone down with a season ending injury either before the season started or right after. He's battled back from a torn ACL and torn achilles to earn a starting nickelback job only to tear his other ACL on Tuesday. Gone for the season. Brutal.#NotreDame DB Shaun Crawford tore his ACL in Tuesday's practice. https://t.co/VQXvxuSYAm— Matt Freeman (@mattfreemanISD) August 30, 2018

Some interesting notes from Brian Kelly's press conference...
1) When asked about "suspended" RB Dexter Williams status for the Michigan game he said "He'll be dressed and he'll be on the sidelines. We'll see what happens when we kick it off." I presumed Dexter wouldn't even dress for the game but this leaves a little bit of an opening that Dexter might play vs Michigan. Personally I hope he does play because he's their most proven back averaging over 7 yards per carry. We will see Saturday night.
2) Kelly reiterated that he is not afraid to go to backup QB Ian Book if the team needs it. Starting QB Brandon Wimbush accounted for over 30 TDs last season but in the Citrus Bowl vs LSU he was benched because of ineffectiveness while Book led them to an inspired come-from-behind victory. I'm not a fan of a two QB situation because the last time ND went into the season (2016) with a "QB controversy" they sputtered to a disastrous 4-8 season with Deshone Kizer and Malik Zaire behind center. Team Kizaire never worked. We will have to see if Team Wimbook works this season. Ugh.
3) The Notre Dame defense is the most loaded from top to bottom since Kelly has arrived. The last time ND had this much talent and experience on the defensive side they went all the way to the 2012 National Championship game with an undefeated regular season. This gives me a lot of optimism.
4) Still have no idea if ND will come out in green jerseys for Michigan. The fans have been encouraged to wear green for the "Green Out" but so far Kelly has been coy when asked if the team would come out in green too. We are gonna have to wait till kickoff. Personally I hope they wear the traditional blue and gold but the tea leaves read green jerseys Saturday night.

While I might not agree with all their points SECFans.com does a great job previewing this week's Notre Dame vs Michigan game. It's gonna be a defensive battle. No question. And with two really good defenses going at it I expect a low scoring game with the winner scoring somewhere in the mid 20's. The over/under is currently at 48 and I would put good money on the under. Michigan's offense is terrible and with leading WR Tarik Black out with a foot injury I don't expect them to put much points on the board against a veteran Notre Dame defense. While I don't think Michigan will get shutout like last time I'd be surprised if new QB transfer Shea Patterson can be effective in a hostile environment vs a blitzing defense that is going to punish him. For some bizarre reason this game is a pick em despite Notre Dame returning a senior QB in Brandon Wimbush and playing at home. College GameDay will be there. I gotta go ND here.

As you may know Notre Dame and their marketing department are doing their best this week to get a "GREEN OUT" going at Notre Dame stadium for the Michigan game on Saturday. The University is pushing it so hard they even have some of their players, namely captain Alex Bars and LB Te'von Coney, enthusiastically marketing green shirts for the game.

ESPN suspends Ryen Russillo after naked arrest https://t.co/OytuynVmxw via @nypostsports— Vincent E Davis (@vdavis114) August 28, 2017
By now you have all heard the story of the blacked out Jackson Hole, WY incident by one ESPN's radio personality Ryen Russillo in which he was found naked at 3:30 am in the wrong condo. I'm not here to judge or condemn the guy. Shit happens when you drink too much at high altitudes. That's just a fact. Mix in the hijinks of a high end ski resort and Russillo was lucky he didn't get kicked by a moose or fell into a cougars trap. If anything Russillo is a hero. Not only has he survived all these years with his first name spelled wrong but now he's been shamed by the media whom he works for with a suspension till September 5th. That's just wrong. That's not the America I know. I will be kneeling now during all national anthems in solidarity to my fellow balding, alcoholic sports personality friend whom I have never met or talked to. We will rise!

Holy West Virginia-wannabe's Batman! I don't know what they have been drinking up in Ann Arbor lately but they need help and need to check themselves into uniform rehab immediately.

For the 97.9% of you who have no clue who Sam Querrey is I will inform you he is the American who beat #1 seed Andy Murray in the Wimbledon quarterfinals today. Querrey becomes the first American since Andy Roddick 8 years ago to reach the Wimbledon final four. But we are not here to talk about Sam. We are here to talk about his girlfriend of 2-years model Abby Dixon. The 29-year old Dixon is a fashion model who travels around the world while keeping her boyfriend company aka pipes clean. She's got that traditional 80's fashion model look which means she's tall, skinny and loves to powder her nose with the booger sugar. The last part I completely made up or did I? You be the judge.
Anyways let's take a look at Abby Dixon's Instagram pictures...

Not sure what the catch is but these prices for concessions at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium are right up my alley. Maybe it's a "hey we are sorry we blew a 25-point lead in the 3rd quarter of the biggest game of our lives and we know you still aren't over it and probably never will but hey here is some really cheap dogs, fries and cold Bud Light." Well shit fire it works for me. I'm all over the $3 pizza slice but it takes a brave, brave man to ever try the nachos with "cheese." I'm pretty sure that "cheese" is just liquid cancer.

To say New York Yankees rookie/cyborg Aaron Judge put on a show last night would be an understatement. Not only did Judge have jaws dropping but he actually had fans and ESPN's Jessica Mendoza dropping their pants from on-air snail trails.
Judge is not from this planet. Nobody that big (6'7 280 lbs) should be hitting baseballs. It's just not fair and I was actually nervous he might kill one of those kids in the outfield with a line drive to the head. He's the new Terminator and yesterday just proved his first half of 30 HRs is no fluke. It looked like he was going to get kicked out in the first round as Marlins Justin Bour hit an amazing 22 HRs. No biggie for Judge who came up and just peppered 450 foot shots with ease including 4 500 foot plus long balls to advance.
After that it was obvious to everybody it was Judge's HR Derby. This felt like the dunk contest when Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins were battling it out in the mid 80's. It had this electricity that you don't see often in baseball. If anybody is going to bring back kid's interest in America's past time it should be Judge. He's a freak that is must watch TV. I don't even like the Yankees but I find myself turning to their games on MLBTV just to see if Judge is hitting. He's the Paul Bunyan/mythical figure who was built in a lab to crush the stitches off of every baseball he faces.
And I don't care if you don't like baseball it's fun as hell to watch someone that big hit it that far with little effort. It's must watch TV.

Conor McGregor posted this Floyd Mayweather knockout picture on his Instagram with the caption "I'm a filthy Irish animal." You gotta love the confidence of McGregor going into his first boxing fight with a guy in Mayweather who has never been knocked down much less lost a fight. The 28-year-old Fighting Irishman is a massive Vegas underdog and for good reason: it's a boxing match, not a MMA event. Can McGregor get close enough to Pretty Boy to even land his left hand hook? I'm not sure. Mayweather is the king of not taking a punishing blow. He bobs and weaves like a rabbit being chased by a cheetah. But if anyone can deliver a devastating KO punch it's McGregor.
