SOME BCS BOWL PERSPECTIVE FOR OHIO STATE VIA THE BIG LEAD

Little Sisters of the Poor: Ohio State plays very fine schools on any given Saturday. Marshall, Ohio, Eastern Michigan. Fine schools, all of them. According to Sagarin, the Buckeyes currently have a lower schedule strength rating (64) than Boise State (62). Boise State has a 2-1 record against teams currently in the AP Top 25, with wins against Virginia Tech and Hawaii and a heart-breaking, overtime loss to Nevada. Ohio State played one team currently in the AP Top 25, Wisconsin, and got manhandled. Guess which team will be playing in a BCS bowl game? The current system rewards reputation rather than accomplishment, and it is structured to pad and to perpetuate the reputations of already powerful schools.

Thanks to The Big Lead for stating the obvious. There should be an outcry over Ohio State making a BCS Bowl game because simply they didn't beat anybody in the top 25. All year I've heard it from a certain Ohio State fan (my neighbor...haha) that the Boise States and TCUs of the world didn't deserve a spot in one of the BCS Championship games because of their schedule. It's bull shit to point out those teams. Now if you want to point out the Big East Champ or the ACC Champ then fine. Those conferences are weak and don't have one dominating top 10 team in them. But for some people to kick Boise State when they lose a game because their kicker pulls a Ray Finkel is just absurd. Boise State and TCU can hang with the big boys. It's just the big boys are too damn scared to schedule them.

Right now it looks like Wisconsin will play TCU in the Rose Bowl. A matchup of a great offense in Wisconsin (3 times they have run up the score over 70 because their coach is a total dickbag) against the best defense in the country in TCU. It should be a great game.

Don't worry about Ohio State or their dumbass president. They get a BCS Bowl game invitation despite not beating anybody significant all season and getting destroyed by Wisconsin. They got lucky they didn't have to face Michigan State this season. Michigan State should get the invite but the BCS is all about selling tickets and TV so they will pick the Buckeyes. Thank god the Big Ten is finally getting a championship game next season when Nebraska joins the conference. Only it's about 15 years too late for their conference since the SEC has completely blown by them in significance and prestige.

Oh and great job Ohio State crushing Michigan. You could have at least kept it somewhat respectable. Not only did you rip out DickRod's heart once again but you pretty much put the final nail in his dismissal.

boise beat va tech when they were playing terribly, THEY LOST TO JAMES MADISON THE VERY NEXT WEEK. Yeah, they got better but they weren't playing great at the time. Put Boise or tcu in the big 10, sec, or big 12 and the teams have at least 4 loses. They cant compete on a weekly basis. Look, they finally had a big game in which they didnt have 4-6 weeks to prepare for and they choked.

I'll defend Ohio State. You say they got killed by wisconsin and i think it is funnny. They lost 31-18? I forgot when 13 points was a blowout.

Ohio State is a great team and they do not run up the score. Its called watching the games. They could have killed michigan by 3 more touchdowns. They are not like the sec schools who keep all their players in the entire game no matter the score. Normally those teams have to because they dont play tough defense in the sec. Look at the scores, its pathetic.

finally, boise and tcu play high school caliber schedules and it is pathetic that you think they should be ranked where they are. If there was no AP poll to start the year, both would be borderline top 10 right now based off what they have done and who they have beaten.

"Ohio State is a great team" is what you say. Hmm. Interesting. I just pointed out they played a weaker schedule than Boise State this season. Yet you say the Buckeyes are great with the same exact record and Boise would have at least 4 losses if they played a worse schedule like Ohio State. Sorry but you make no sense.

You sir are the dumbass.

Oh yeah, I've watched a lot of Buckeyes games this year. They are not great and they did get their asses kicked by Wisconsin.

But thanks for playing Ben. It's been fun. Come back and talk big boy football when you take off your Buckeye blinders.

I'm not even an Ohio State fan.. but you're an idiot. Boise lost to a team who lost to Hawaii. Boise would lose several game in a "real conference" each year.

Also, Ohio State didn't get manhandled by anyone this year. They lost to a very, very good Wisconsin team made a huge comeback in the 2nd half to almost win. There's no "manhandled" about that.

I'd be mad if I was a UGA fan too. That's why you're so bitter, huh?

Here is the main difference between Boise and OSU. Their strength of schedule is VERY similar. Boise is a bit higher, yes. However, Ohio St lost to a championship quality team (Wisco). Boise lost to a trash team that couldn't beat Hawaii half way through the year.

You got me confused for somebody else Blake.

I'm a bitter Notre Dame fan. No worries though since you are consistently wrong with your arguments.

Boise State got beat. Yes. Last second on the road to a top 20 opponent because their kicker missed a chip
shot. What is that scares you so much about Boise? Granted they win BCS Bowl games and Ohio State consistently gets throttled in them. Or is it the fact their athletic budget is probably a tenth of the Buckeyes and yet they play just as good football.

It's actually quite pathetic how scared and angry you are of
them. It's too bad they can't meet in a bowl game this year. Boise would beat Ohio State. Oh well I guess we will never know.

It's really quite funny how wrong YOU are. The Buckeyes actually have a winning record in bowl games since Tressel has been there.

Since Tressel has been there they have won a title, 2 Fiesta Bowls, a Rose Bowl and an Alamo Bowl. They are 5-3 in bowls over the last 8 years. 2 of those 3 losses are also in title game appearances. That's a VERY solid resume, don't ya think?

So please, do your research before you talk. It'll make you look a LOT less dumb.

Scared and angry? Do you just make stuff up as you go? Lmao.

The beauty of this is, we'll NEVER know about Boise. After the loss to a very terrible Nevada team, their shot is over. You won't hear about this next year especially after Wisco lays the pipe to TCU in the Rose Bowl.

You're an idiot.

Blake it quite amazing how much you know about Ohio State football when you claim you are not a fan. So I take it you are just an unbiased bystander that has no rooting interest for the Buckeyes/Big Ten Football/or the BCS System which sets up favorably for Big Ten Schools since it is still 2010 and you don't have a championship game. I will give Tressel his due, he is 1-2 (should be 0-3 if not for a garbage interference call) in BCS title games. Those two losses were close games too....they really showed how good they were against teams not from the Midwest.

And you are right about Nevada. They are "terrible.". Just like Ohio State was terrible for barely beating Iowa and Penn State. And I'm sure you are right about TCU. They will get blown out by Wisconsin. Make sure you come back on here when it doesn't happen and take your medicine.

Personally I would love to see Ohio State play a SEC schedule. Because like you said about Boise and TCU they would have a minimum 4 losses in the Big Ten I can say the same thing about Ohio State with such certainty.

Anyways have fun jerking off on your sweatervest.

You are like a monkey with a language. Week arguments. Too ignorant to talk to.
