Correct me if I am wrong but I don't ever remember hearing a coach in football say to "chop down those big trees" you need to take out somebody's leg like this. I know football injuries happen but to me this looks to be as dirty as an Auburn or Denver Broncos linemen performing a career ending chop block.
Blaine Irby will now be done for the season after undergoing surgery to fix a dislocated kneecap. Losing Irby is a huge blow to the Longhorns as he had emerged this season as a key target for QB Colt McCoy (2 TD catches) and provided some excellent blocking in his first season starting as a sophomore after replacing Jermichael Finley. More than likely he will be granted a medical redshirt and can come back with 3 years left of eligibility if he can in fact walk properly again. Expected to replace Irby is redshirt freshman tight end Ahmard Howard. If Texas is to remain a serious contender for the Big 12 title it will need Howard to step up and contribute much like Irby had in the first 3 games.
No truth to the rumor that Longhorn officials branded him afterwards and downgraded Irby to Grade C beef.

-USC's victories over Ohio State and Virginia are looking less and less impressive considering how bad those programs are playing right now. Everybody wants to annoint USC as the clear #1 and they couldn't be more wrong. USC will go as far as QB Mark Sanchez takes them and this should bode well for the Trojans but I still think a SEC team like Georgia or LSU could beat them on an even playing field.
-Speaking of Georgia, you have to be more than impressed with their performance last night in Tempe. They destroyed a supposedly strong PAC-10 team in Arizona State with an offense that put up over 450 total yards on offense despite their offensive line starting a bunch of non-starters including two freshmen and a sophomore. Knowshon Moreno vaulted himself back to the top of Heisman conversation with a spectacular performance in front of a primetime national audience.
This weekend they will break out the black uniforms for Alabama in what should be another big game in Athens with the College Gameday crew showing up. If Georgia lays it on Alabama then I believe a lot of the voters will rethink their vote of USC as #1.
-Javon Ringer of Michigan State looked like the Heisman Trophy winner yesterday by pounding the ball 39 times for over 200 yards rushing on Notre Dame. Unfortunately for Ringer this will be his highest rating for the Heisman all season. The Spartans are notorious for fading big time after wins against the Irish and yesterday they managed to ride Ringer to a victory but in the process put a lot of wear and tear on their best player. Without Ringer the Spartans are just an average to bad team nationally. With that being said if the Spartans win 9 games or more this season then it will be because of Ringer and he should be a finalist for the award.
-Speaking of the Irish I can't ever remember taking a loss in stride as well as I did yesterday. As a fan I can be irrational a lot when it comes to Notre Dame football and want to blame coaches or players or officials for a loss. Yesterday I thought the Irish came out with a horrible gameplan of trying to run the ball when their strength is Jimmy Clausen's arm but they could have easily won yesterday's game without the turnovers. Turning it over twice in the red zone will almost always result in a loss (ask Phil Fulmer)and if the Irish can eliminate those mistakes then they should win the majority of their games. The future is bright with the Irish when the majority of their star players are either freshmen or sophomores. With that being said the Irish are still not close to being a top 25 team until both their offensive and defensive lines improve. This week against Purdue should be a good test to see if the coaching staff can make adjustments and capitalize on their strengths (secondary and passing game) instead of trying something that clearly isn't working (running game).
-Chase Daniel is the best quarterback in college right now. He is completing over 75% of his passes and is on pace for a 36 TD to 3 INT season. Those are Tom Brady type numbers. If you get the chance watch Mizzou because they might be the most entertaining team with future NFL stars like Jeremy Maclin and Chase Coffman catching bombs from Daniel.
-As much as I hate Nick Saban I have to admit he is doing a hell of a job at Alabama so far. BAMA rolled all over Arkansas and now might be the second best team in their division behind LSU. If they can beat Georgia this week then you have to consider BAMA a serious contender for a SEC Title this season. Saban has them playing discipline ball and it helps with an underrated senior QB in John Parker Wilson leading by example. I can't wait to see Julio Jones and A.J. Green battle it out for best freshman WR bragging rights in Athens this week.

Will it be a call of racism on Washington's part for firing or forcing a coach to resign who had yet to fill his contract in the fact that his program had progressively gotten worse in his tenure or will it be a confession where they admit they were wrong in their prior convictions that Willingham was a helpless pawn in the Notre Dame coaching debacle since Lou Holtz left?

1. Georgia Bulldogs-Okay, I know I'm going to get some shit for putting Georgia this high from some of you but listen up. Georgia went on the road and beat a tough South Carolina team in a defensive battle. A win is a win in my book and I fully expect the Bulldogs to beat Arizona State convincingly this Saturday night on national television.
2. USC Trojans-The Trojans look good, actually great so far. They destroyed the Buckeyes last week and part of that has to do with QB Mark Sanchez. Sanchez is very poised and is light years ahead of JD Booty at this point in their careers. Whoever does their schedule deserves some serious props because they get a week off this week to mentally focus for Oregon State after all ready having a week off before the Ohio State game. Somehow they have another week off before the Notre Dame game too. Awesome.
3. Missouri Tigers-Chase Daniel is on top of his game and he should put up more Heisman worthy numbers this weekend against a horrible Buffalo team. Mizzou could put up 70 points by halftime.
4. Oklahoma Sooners-Listen, don't start jumping on their bandwagon for beating the bag out of a terrible Washington team. I learned last year this team can lose to anybody and they almost always seem to get crushed in big bowl games. If they beat Texas and look good while doing it in a few weeks then they will get more respect in my book. Right now this team reminds me of Ohio State. Great on paper until they actually play somebody good.
5. Florida Gators-Urban Meyer has a perfect record against the Volunteers and that will continue this week as Florida will come in and Swamp the Vols in Knoxville.
6. LSU Tigers-If they win at Auburn this Saturday night then this team is a serious contender for a repeat as National Champion. Expect a close game as 11 of the last 18 matchups have been decided by 7 points or less.
7. Texas Longhorns-They play a patsy this weekend against Rice. Yawn.
8. Penn State Nittany Lions-The JoePa's continued to roll and now are the favorite in my book to win the Big Ten after seeing the Buckeye's performance the last two weeks. Over/under on # of players arrested this week is 3 in case you were wondering.
9. South Florida Bulls-It kind of makes me sick to my stomach to put South Florida in the top ten considering they are a Big East team but they beat a good Kansas team last week and deserve some recognition. They should roll this week against Florida International.
10. East Carolina Pirates-They struggled with Tulane which was a letdown game after West Virginia. If they struggle against North Carolina State this week then I'm dropping them out.
Not many people know but John McCain has roommates in his 7th house which just happens to be an apartment. Things have been getting stressful with the upcoming election and well...McCain doesn't seem to be helping things especially with the apartment rules...
And to make things worse now it appears Sarah Palin has moved in...

I'm not hear to bang on the kid for making a dumb mistake. Sure he looked like an idiot when he tossed the ball backwards before hitting the goal line and yes it would have been his first NFL touchdown in front of millions on Monday Night Football but at least the Eagles scored on the very next play thanks to Brian Westbrook. Desean will be reminded of the play for the rest of his career much like Leon Lett probably is today if the guy is still alive and not snorting coke off of stripper's poles while making it rain. The point is Desean needs to keep his nose clean and his attitude in check. Do your showboating once you know for sure you have scored. Don't be that guy Desean. He pulled the same shit when he was playing in the US Army All-American Bowl by doing a flip and losing the ball at the 1 yard line. Time to man up rookie and grow up. The great ones say you should act like you have been there before and I think Desean will realize that sooner than later or he will be out of the league real fast.
Seriously, who the hell cares if they only scored 3 points and won the game. If Auburn has poon like that they deserve to get more first place votes then USC in my opinion. I call it the Power of the Poon poll.
-The stadium was electric on Saturday despite the fact that both teams were unranked coming into the battle. I still haven't recovered my voice as I'm am pretty sure it is still in Section 2, row 21.
-This year's Notre Dame team is completely different from last year. They are much more emotional and the team seems united and more focused. I credit the coaching staff with some of this but I think most of it comes from the players. The leadership is much stronger and guys are stepping up.
-Golden Tate needs to get at least 8 touches a game. Every time Jimmy Clausen gets the ball in Golden's hands something good happens.
-Robert Hughes is quickly becoming one of the most reliable backs in the game. Two TD's and no fumbles in a wet game was key.
-This ND team is so young it really should be a serious NC title team next season. When you see guys like Floyd, Rudolph, Kamara, Tate, Hughes, Allen, Clausen, Robinson, Johnson, Fleming, Blanton, Harrison Smith, Brian Smith, Neal, Gray, and many others who are making major contributions to this team who are all underclassmen you realize the future is very bright for Notre Dame football in 2009 and beyond.
-This team still hasn't earned their respect. Mo Crum talked about earning it at the pep rally and despite kicking the shit out of Michigan they will not earn any until they beat Sparty in East Lansing this Saturday. It's good to see a team play with a chip on their shoulder who wants to prove the world wrong. This team wants to win badly and it shows by the emotion on the field as soon as they come through the tunnel.
-Mike Aenello is a God. The special teams dynamo is a former walk-on who earned a scholarship this season because of his incredible energy, hustle, and overall great play on kickoffs.
-Overall this was my most memorable trip to Notre Dame. I met a ton of great people at Corby's, the College Football Hall of Fame, at the tailgates, and of course at the game itself. I managed to carry Johnny Lattner's Heisman Trophy and talk to Rocket Ismail for nearly two hours. In case you were wondering, Rocket could not stop talking about Golden Tate and for good reason.
-And to top it all off I knew the attitude of these players had changed when talking to some of them on Thursday. When asked about Michigan and their chances on Saturday, one starter simply stated to us "FUCK MICHIGAN!" Words that bring tears to these Irish eyes.
Congratulations go out to the always classy Roger Federer for winning his 5th straight US Open title and 13th overall Grand Slam(1 behind Pete Sampras). Federer was at the top of his game today as he throttled Andy Murray in less than 2 hours to show he still is the best in tennis. We will have to wait till January to see if Roger can win his 14th Grand Slam down under. Personally I can't wait because players like Federer and Rafael Nadal are making the sport of tennis interesting again for outsiders like myself who can't appreciate all the nooks and crannies of the country club sport.

We got two weeks under our belts now of college football ecstasy. Some of us(USC and Georgia fans) are giddy about our team's chances while some of us including myself think this may be a long season. I've managed to catch at some point at least a half of play from all of these teams in my top 10 so I feel about as confident as a 10 inch softie that this top 10 is as good as they come.
1. Georgia Bulldogs-The Bulldogs have been the most impressive team to watch this year from top to bottom. Matthew Stafford is coming into his own and has complete control of a very talented squad. Special K has looked as good as advertised with 6 TD's already and Caleb King and Richard Samuel are two backs that most teams would die for and yet they are backups. Both set of lines are setting the tempo despite key losses to personnel and Mark Richt has the team focused on the prize which is a SEC Title then a BCS Championship berth. They shouldn't have any reason to overlook South Carolina this week after the Gamecocks beat them last year in Athens.
2. USC Trojans-I managed to see about 3 quarters of the Virginia dismantling to already instill in my mind that this team is loaded. Mark Sanchez wasn't touched and thus had a great game and the defense looked really fast while Pete Carroll smiled with his "eat shit" grin. Two weeks ago I thought the Buckeyes could beat USC but now I think they will have a hard time especially if Beanie isn't playing.
3. Missouri Tigers-Their offense is already clicking on all cylinders with Chase Daniel doing his best Drew Brees impersonation by methodically picking apart defenses. People seem to discredit the Tigers because of their history but if you watch this team they really are a great team. They are still my pick to win the Big 12.
4. Oklahoma Sooners-Stoops team has absolutely dismantled their first two opponents with an offense led by QB Sam Bradford and RB DeMarco Murray. They should have little trouble going against Washington this week as they look to further extend the knife into Willingham's fading credibility.
5. Florida Gators-The Gators were not on top of their game Saturday night against the Hurricanes but still won by more than 3 TD's. I know Tim Tebow is Superman and all but they need to figure out a way to run the ball with either Chris Rainey(way overrated in my opinion) and Emmanuel Moody to take off some of the pressure on Tebow. They have a week off to prepare for Tennessee and get their running game in order.
6. LSU Tigers-What in the hell do they put in the water down there in Louisiana? Obviously not very good levees. The Tigers again looked ready to contend for another BCS Title(remember they have two while USC only has one) with a defense as good as anybody and a running game led by Charles Scott who has breakout star written all over him in their season opener last week against App State. They should crush North Texas this week.
7. Texas Longhorns-This Longhorn team has fooled me before with inconsistent play but so far they look the part of serious contender. Colt McCoy has been phenomenal in the first two games while accounting for 8 TD's. I have little doubt this team will be undefeated going into the Red River Shootout with a chance to make a claim for a top 3 spot.
8. California Golden Bears-I knew Cal would be good this year but I just didn't think they would be this damn good. RB Jahvid Best is one of those names you might not know yet but once you see him play he is hard to forget. The kid can flat out burn people. Right now Cal looks by far to be the second best team in the conference behind USC and could have a legit shot to make a BCS game for the first time.
9. Penn State Nittany Lions-I will be the first to admit that I thought this team would be garbage this year. They are far from it. JoePa has managed to keep the players focused on the task at hand even when some of them are in handcuffs. Remarkable in my book. Don't laugh but State Penn could win the Big Ten this year especially if Beanie can't return for the Buckeyes.
10. East Carolina Pirates-The only team in the country to have beaten two ranked opponents so far, is Coach Skip Holtz the early favorite for coach of the year or what? They crushed West Virginia behind a swarming defense and look to be the best non-BCS conference team to have a shot at reaching a BCS game. It's just a matter of time before people start talking about Holtz going back to alma mater.
So if you look real close you can see I don't have Ohio State in my top 10. They struggled to beat Ohio at the Horseshoe and just don't look like they have the eye of the tiger yet. Maybe that will change this week in the Coliseum. If not they will get embarrassed again on National television.

168 yards rushing with 3 TD's and one hurdle as pictured above over Central Michigan today puts Knowshon as the frontrunner for the Heisman in my opinion. If you disagree fine, but then watch the video clip and tell me this kid is not amazing.

Notre Dame will destroy San Diego State on both sides of the ball and easily cover the -21 1/2 point spread at home. RB's Robert Hughes(pictured above) and Armando Allen will both have big games rushing the ball against a weak Aztec's defense and look out for freshman TE Kyle Rudolph, he is my pick for the first touchdown of the season for the Irish.
I'm not going to lie, I could really give two shits about the NFL this year. The two teams I root for suck balls with the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens both starting rookie quarterbacks in week 1. Ryan will be a joke and Flacco will need time to develop and shouldn't be getting thrown in the fire way this early. I heard there was a NFL game last night between the New York Giants and Washington Redskins. I also heard the game was pretty much garbage except for a Justin Tuck sack and this great run by Jacobs. Landry may be a Redskin but I believe Jacobs scalped his ass.
A week late and a dollar short, here is your preseason 1st team All-American Team. QUARTERBACK Tim Tebow, Florida-The reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Tebow does it all whether he is passing, running, or doing circumsicions in 3rd World countries.
RUNNINGBACK Beanie Wells, Ohio State-The best runningback in the game, Beanie was the lone bright performance in the BCS Title game last year for the Buckeyes. If he can stay healthy he should put up 2000 yards rushing especially since the Big Ten will be pathetic this year.
Knowshon Moreno, Georgia-Special K was the difference maker last year for the Dawgs as he put the offense on his back and carried them to a #2 ranking when all was said and done. His spin moves are electric and his enthusiasm on the field can ignite a crowd.
FULLBACK Jorvorskie Lane, Texas A&M-I want Lane to have the ball in goal line situations. He is just so big and powerful it is almost unfair seeing defenses try to tackle him up high.
WIDE RECEIVER Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech-Set almost every conceivable record last year as a redshirt freshman for the Red Raiders. He is back and should put up excellent numbers with QB Graham Harrell looking his way. Jeremy Maclin, Missouri-Every time I see Maclin touch the ball I expect him to score. He is that good! I expect Maclin to be considered a serious Heisman contender at the end of the season as he carries Missouri to a Big 12 Championship. Percy Harvin, Florida-Unbelievable player when he is healthy, Harvin is the difference between the Gators being a serious contender for the SEC Title and not.
TIGHT END Travis Beckum, Wisconsin-The Badgers may be boring to watch but Beckum is not. He will likely win the Mackey Award for top tight end if the Badgers can reach a BCS game.
CENTER Jonathan Luigs, Arkansas-The returning Remington Award winner for best center in the college game, Luigs is a first round talent who helped open holes for D-Mac and Felix Jones. GUARD Duke Robinson, Oklahoma-He is big and blocks well. Anthony Parker, Tennessee-He is enormous and blocks with a vengeance. TACKLE Andre Smith, Alabama-The best offensive lineman in the game. Period. Mike Oher, Ole Miss-He is huge and not stupid and blocks extremely well.
DEFENSIVE ENDS George Selvie, South Florida-Led the nation is tackles for loss last year.
Maurice Evans, Penn State-I got a million dollars that says he gets suspended for drugs.
DEFENSIVE TACKLES Fili Moala, USC-Great name for a gay porn star. Terrill Byrd, Cincinnati-Who knew that the Bearcats could produce such good defensive players?
OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS Brian Cushing, USC-Steroids have done a body good. Brian Toal, Boston College-Coming back from a serious injury, I will more than likely regret putting him this high on the list especially over Jasper Brinkley.
James Laurinaitis, Ohio State-I've heard he is pretty good for a two time All-American. Rey Maualuga, USC-He wears women panties and is more than likely overrated but the kid loves to hit people hard.

I am heading down to the Flats of Georgia Tech to do some tailgating and get ready for the debut of new Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson. As most of you know I am not too fond of the Yellow Jackets for obvious reasons, one being their fans who don't have a clue what a tailback is but I bleed college football and need it like Lindsay Lohan needs Red Bulls, blow, and dick. So if anyone wants to come down and start the party...umm, tailgate I mean then email me or post a message on here. You will recognize me pretty well down there since I will be one of a few is actually homegrown USA and not foreign and who actually drinks instead of studying for their Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering classes in fucking August. I'm hearing they have only sold 40,000 tickets for the game because the Nerds haven't bought into Johnson and his system yet. Listen, you can't figure out his fucking system on a damn scientific calculator. Just watch and learn for once and show up is what I say.
Prediction: Georgia Tech 31 Jacksonville State 21 (Perrilloux will be running away from Johnson, Walker, and Richard all night as the Georgia Tech DL will dominate the front 5 of Jacksonville State)
Other game of note: South Carolina 27 North Carolina State 13 (watch out for Norwood and Brinkley on defense for the Cocks, they are mean and vicious)
Nothing like seeing two fat broads, one being a New York cop who has no idea how to arrest somebody, going at it in Yankees Stadium. My lower lip is starting to quiver just a little bit while thinking of the gentlemen's rivalry that is the Yankees and Red Sox. I really can come up with no reason why people outside of New York and Boston just disdain these type of fans other than they are fat, ugly, obnoxious, rude, smell, and violent. But yeah, these are the true fans who are so passionate as ESPN keeps telling me. Uh huh.

On this great College Football Eve one of my wishes is for all of my readers to have a kickass time this coming up season rooting for their favorite college team. Whether you are at a tailgate in South Bend partying with ugly chicks or laughing it up with inbreds in Athens or just trying to avoid running into Maurice Clarett in Columbus I do wish each and everyone of you one hell of a season.
With that being said if you root for a team playing against my Notre Dame Fighting Irish I say to you from the bottom of my heart and with all sincerity:
"GO TO HELL AND DON'T EVER FUCKING COME BACK!!!"

MATT FAIRCHILD BREAKS DOWN THE PAC 10 CONFERENCE AND GIVES HIS PREDICTIONS The PAC-10 has become USC's bitch. They do what they want and pay their players and get away with a lot of shit because they bring in so much money. Without USC would anyone really even talk about the PAC-10? Probably not. We know we are guaranteed some entertaining high scoring late night battles on FSN when we are piss drunk but other than that we see a bunch of average teams and the one superpower in USC. Will this year be different? NEGATIVE!
THE ELITE TEAMS:
USC TROJANS-Pretty simple to explain USC dominance the past 6 years: talent. They have so much talent, the most in the country, the only reason why they haven't won more National Titles is complacency. Gone is Booty at QB while Mark Sanchez and his dirty kneecap enter the equation. The Trojans are loaded everywhere on the field except one important position: offensive line. Only one starter returns which is why I think the Buckeyes will beat them early in the season at the Coliseum. Fortunately for the Trojans the rest of the conference still hasn't caught up to them and Notre Dame has yet to come even close to them minus the 2005 game. Double digit wins are for sure with their talent but I wouldn't be surprised if they lost 3 games this year especially with the questions at QB and offensive line.
THE CONTENDERS:
ARIZONA STATE SUN DEVILS-ASU had the look of a smoke and mirrors team last year. Coach Dennis Erickson did an excellent job in his first season taking the Sun Devils to the Holiday Bowl only to get smoked by Texas. Senior QB Rudy Carpenter might be the best in the PAC-10 but he will be working behind the worst offensive line in the conference. The Sun Devils have talent but they will be over powered at the line of scrimmage by teams such as Georgia and USC. A lot of people like the Sun Devils and think they can repeat if not better the 10 victories of last season. I'm not one of them.
CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS-Cal is going with QB Kevin Riley behind a veteran and talented offensive line with one of the best RB's in the conference in Jahvid Best. Jeff Tedford should have his team ready from a second half collapse which included losing 6 of their last 7 games after ascending to #2 in the rankings. The defense returns 8 starters and even though I don't think they are top 10 material I could see them flirting with a top 15 ranking by the end of the season. Cal will go bowling again with Tedford and could provide an upset or two this season.
OREGON DUCKS-Losing QB Dennis Dixon and RB Jonathan Stewart will hurt the Ducks but they have enough talent to compete for a bowl game this season. Coach Mike Bellotti should have a good running game despite the loss of Stewart with Jeremiah Johnson and Andre Crenshaw both back and ready to kick ass behind one of the nation's best offensive lines. Defensively the Ducks are second only to the Trojans and they should have a solid chance of repeating the 9 wins they had last year.
FALLING BACK TEAMS:
UCLA BRUINS-This could be a really brutal first season for coach Rick Neuheisel considering only 9 starters return from a team that managed to lose to Notre Dame at home last season. They don't have a healthy QB and the offensive line is a bunch of unknowns so it would almost be a shock if the Bruins have a winning record. With a coach like Neuheisel and OC Norm Chow it is just a matter of time before they get the right recruits and build a power who can potentially challenge the Trojans for conference titles but this year is not the year. Look out for freshman safety Rahim Moore, he has the ability to be one of the best in Bruins' history.
ARIZONA WILDCATS-It's do or die time for head coach Mike Stoops at Arizona. Entering his 5th season, Stoop's Wildcats return 10 starters on offense and should be able to put up a lot of points especially with a senior QB in Willie Tuitama. Sophomore TE Rob Gronkowski is one of the best at his position in the country and WR Mike Thomas is capable of improving on last year's numbers(1038 yards receiving, 11 TD catches). A potential weak spot for the Wildcats is only 1 returning starter among the front 7 on defense so it could be an uphill battle for the Wildcats to get to their bowl game since 1998. With Tuitama at QB I think they can get at least 7 victories this season and finally make a bowl game and perhaps save Stoops job for the time being.
OREGON STATE BEAVERS-I love Beaver, just not the one coached by Mike Riley.
TEAMS THAT SUCK AND BLOW AT THE SAME TIME:
WASHINGTON STATE COUGARS-First year head coaches usually have a tough time transitioning to a new program especially when that particular program has only 8 conference wins in the last 3 seasons. Paul Wulff inherits 14 returning starters including an All-American candidate at WR in Brandon Gibson but the Cougars just don't have enough to compete with the upper echelon of teams in the PAC-10 and could finish in the basement this season.
STANFORD CARDINALS-Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has the Stanford Cardinal heading into the right direction with the huge upset over USC last season but talent wise this program is still one of the weakest in the Pac-10. The QB position should be solid with either Tavita Pritchard or Alex Loukas taking the reigns this year until heralded freshman Andrew Luck matures. 9 starters return on defense which should keep them competitive in most of their games.
WASHINGTON HUSKIES-The Huskies have won only 6 conference games in the Willingham era(worst in conference) and this year they face another uphill battle with 5 road games including the first brutal match up in Eugene. QB Jake Locker is the Tim Tebow of the West and he should be able to run the ball for over a 1000 yards but the WR crew is bad. Their out of conference schedule includes BYU, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame. All 3 will be losses in the final brutal season for the Losingham era at Washington.
BEST GAME: OHIO STATE AT USC (September 13th)-If you are a true college football fan or even a novice one you owe it to yourself to watch this night game. Two of the most storied programs who for the most part only meet in the Rose Bowl, the Trojans have lost the last 5 games in the series. Who ever wins this game will likely be the #1 team in the country and have a great shot at a BCS Title game.
WORST GAME: WASHINGTON STATE AT BAYLOR (September 13th)-Both programs are probably the worst in their respective conferences.
MOST OVERRATED GAME: NOTRE DAME AT USC(November 29th)-Until Notre Dame gets the balls to come out and punch USC in the fucking mouth this game between the two programs is usually a blow out with USC winning the last 6.
BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER: Washington QB Jake Locker is a one man wrecking crew and it's really too bad he does it on such a bad team.
BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER: USC LB Rey Maualuga scares the piss out of me and I can only imagine how much he scares the opposition.
BEST FRESHMAN: UCLA safety Rahim Moore will start immediately and be one of the best players on the field for the Bruins.
MOST LIKELY TO GET ARRESTED: The Washington State Cougars have been racking up Fulmer Cup points so far this season with 25 players either being arrested or charged with an offense in the past 18 months.
MOST LIKELY TO BE FIRED: Washingon head coach Ty Willingham will be fired and paid handsomely again to be a shitty coach at a program he no longer coaches at. He will remain stoic and become the molder of terrible teams in the meantime.
PLAYER WHO WILL BE BETTER THAN WHAT PEOPLE THINK: Oregon defensive end Nick Reed doesn't get a lot of recognition but last year he led the PAC-10 in sacks and tackles for loss.
DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AWARD: Why nobody in the PAC-10 has been able to develop a program capable of challenging USC for the conference. There is so much talent in the state of California you would think somebody like UCLA or even Oregon could knock them off of their perch just once.
THE WINNER IS: USC is by far the most talented and well coached team in the PAC-10. I'm still surprised other teams in the conference haven't caught up with them but then again it just goes to show how great Pete Carroll is in establishing a dynasty and maintaining it. Trust me it pains me to call the Trojans a dynasty but they are what they are and right now they are still heads and shoulders above anybody in the PAC-10.

Julio Jones, WR, Alabama-The nation's #1 rated wide receiver out of high school and Bama fan's #1 reason for optimism going into the 2008 season is the spectacular Julio Jones. Jones is a 6'4, 210 pound receiver who has been named the starter going into the season opener against Clemson this Saturday. Julio is a freak of an athlete with the ability to have a tremendous freshman season catching passes from senior John Parker Wilson. His impact should be immediate in Tuscaloosa and don't be surprised if a lot of people are talking Heisman especially if he has a huge game against Clemson. Julio has also already earned the respect from his teammates.
"He's not out boasting about, what (he's) going to do. He just lets his actions speak louder than his words."

Darrell Scott, RB, Colorado-Scott was the #1 rated RB coming out of high school in California and spurned numerous offers including one from Texas to pick the Buffaloes. Currently listed #2 on the depth chart behind sophomore Demetrius Sumler, it is just a matter of time before Scott gets the majority of the carries and makes a name for himself in the Big 12 conference. Coach Dan Hawkins has stated he wants all of his RB's to get a lot of carries to keep them fresh but there is little doubt Scott is the most talented of the group and will get more carries as he improves his pass blocking. Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame-Floyd comes into Notre Dame as the most highly touted WR since Maurice Stovall. Unlike Stovall though Floyd isn't a work in progress and already runs great routes, has consistent hands, and knows most of the plays which will enable him to make an instant impact starting next week against San Diego State. The 6'3, 205 pound receiver from Minnesota is currently second on the depth chart behind senior WR David Grimes but don't be surprised if he is the starter by the second week of the season against Michigan. Floyd provides QB Clausen a big target who has the body to separate himself from DB's to the contrary of the smaller Grimes. Expectations were huge coming into fall camp for Floyd and he has yet to disappoint.
"Michael Floyd," said CBS College Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, "will be able to run the routes, will be able to block, will be able to handle the pressure of being the best wide receiver prospect to walk in the door since Randy Moss tried to (and was turned away in 1995), because Michael has both feet on the ground.
"He sees the big picture. He's not going to have the highs and lows of being a prodigy. He's got such an even temperament and mature perspective. And he's a leader, so people will follow him."
Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame-Another Notre Dame player to be on the lookout is starting tight end Kyle Rudolph. The #1 rated TE coming out of Elder High School in Cincinatti, Rudolph has passed junior Will Yeatman on the depth chart and was named the starter after sophomore Mike Ragone went down with a knee injury last week.
“He runs down the field faster than the rest of them,” Weis said. "I'm very, very high on Kyle Rudolph," Weis said. "What Kyle Rudolph lacks a little bit in explosion at the line of scrimmage — in comparison to a more veteran player — he makes up in straight-line speed. I mean, the kid gets down the field in a hurry. He's got great ball skills. Anytime you've got a tight end who can run, who is at least an adequate blocker, you know you've got something."
A.J. Green, WR, Georgia-What Matthew Stafford has been missing since he arrived in Athens since leaving his Texas high school days is a tall, play making WR who can stretch the field. Actually if you ask Bulldog fans they will tell you he has been missing one who can actually catch the ball consistently. No worries UGA fans because Stafford finally has one. A. J. Green will not start against Georgia Southern but his impact should be immediate. The 6'4 lanky receiver who has been compared to Randy Moss in some recruiting circles currently is the #2 flanker behind senior WR Mohamed Massaquoi but should be in a lot of offensive plays where the offensive coordinator Mike Bobo looks to spread the defense apart. Green made an early commitment to the Bulldogs during his junior season in high school and will look to be the go-to target for Stafford during his freshman season. At 6'4 and 200 pounds, Green looks the part of a dominant receiver and his hands look more like bear paws ready to haul in game changing TD's this fall in the SEC.
"He doesn't know everything obviously yet; he has not played in a game," Eason said. "There's a lot of potential there and it's potential that we've seen flashes of a guy that could be pretty good."
DaQuan Bowers, DE, Clemson-Bowers is a freak. An early enrollee, Bowers will start this Saturday against Alabama as Clemson looks to win their first ACC title since 1991. The #1 rated DE coming out of high school, Bowers is a 6'4, 270 pound specimen who can run a faster 40 time then a lot of runningbacks and receivers. Bowers will remind Clemson fans of Gaines Adams quickly.
Terrelle Pryor, QB, Ohio State-Never heard of this guy before today. Okay, all kidding aside we all know about Pryor and the Corvettes and the shady recruiting. Currently listed #3 on the depth chart behind Todd Boeckman and Joe Bauserman, he is essentially a co-#2 with Bauserman who will used much like Tim Tebow was his freshman season in Gainesville. The USA Today Player of the Year stands at 6'6 and looks a lot like Vince Young when lined up behind center. His athleticism is off the charts and he should see significant time this year including the home opener against Youngstown State.
Will Hill, S, Florida-The freshman strong safety from New Jersey sits currently #2 on the depth chart behind Ahmad Black but should see plenty of playing time this year. Hill wears #10 and should become a permanent fixture in the Gator's secondary which just happened to be atrocious last year. I expect Hill to be starting by midseason and he should also provide an impact on special teams because athletically he is so far ahead of the upperclassmen. Once his football knowledge catches up with his talent look out because the sky is the limit for Hill.
Marcus Robinson, DE, Miami-With all the attention fellow classmates LB Arthur Brown and DT Marcus Forston received during their recruiting process it comes as a bit of a surprise neither will be starting this Thursday but Robinson will be. A converted linebacker out of high school, Robinson's athleticism and the Hurricane's numerous suspensions have given him a chance to make his mark against Charles Southern. A bit undersized, Robinson will be used much like Terrell Suggs was at Arizona State. Sometimes he will have his hand down and other times he will be playing a hybrid outside linebacker. His impact will be immediate as the Canes field an extremely young squad under second year coach Randy Shannon.
Rahim Moore, S, UCLA-A five star prospect out of the Los Angeles area, Moore decided to stay close to home with UCLA and has already nailed down the starting strong safety position for the Bruins. Moore shows great maturity for a freshman and can play cornerback also if the Bruins need him. Expect the talented Moore to remind UCLA fans of Eric Turner when he bulks up a little bit.

MATT FAIRCHILD BREAKS DOWN THE BIG EAST AND GIVES HIS PREDICTIONS The Big East conference is kind of like the Rodney Dangerfield of College Football. They don't get a lot of respect because of the gimmick offenses and the defenses made of undersized blind Canadians. And by Canadians I mean football players from the Northeast who wouldn't stand a chance in the South and by blind I mean they suck for the most part. Don't get me wrong there are some really good players in the conference but anyone of these teams would struggle from week-to-week playing a tough SEC schedule. Hell, Rich Rodriguez finally came to his senses! Kidding Mountaineers fans, kidding. Let's take a look at the Dangerfields...
THE ELITE TEAMS:
WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS-As some of you may have heard a coach by the name of Rich Rodriguez, otherwise known as DickRod for the uninformed, decided to leave his cushy job at his alma mater to go to big bad Michigan. In short nobody liked the move and most people consider DickRod an assbag who will fail miserably in Ann Arbor and prove how much of a whore he has become. But you know what? Fuck him! Time to move on everybody. QB Pat White returns for what seems like his 8th season in Morgantown(actually his 4th starting) after winning conference player of the year honors the past two seasons. White is a great college player and one of my favorite players to watch. The kid is so silky smooth I want to lick him up and then poop him out in a waffle cone only to be consumed again. Yeah, he is that good. Steve Slaton is gone but he was overrated anyways and now enters the Devine one named Noel. Noel is a small back who only averaged 8.6 YPC as a true freshman. Yeah, he blows. Devine is like one of those wind-up dog dolls that jump around and bark all the time. He should have a monster season along with White. The offense will sure as shit put a lot of points on the board but the question remains if they will able to stop anybody? Nope. Their defense could be awful this year with only 4 returning starters. Of course it won't matter too much since they play in the Big East and they get Rutgers and South Florida in Morgantown. A huge Thursday night game against Auburn in Morgantown will help the conference gain some respect it thinks it deserves and a Friday night game against Pittsburgh at Heinz could determine who wins the conference. I see at least 10 wins with a healthy Pat White. They won't contend for a National Title but they will get in a BCS bowl game.
THE CONTENDERS:
SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS-Almost everybody in the media are licking the Bulls balls this summer thinking they are the most talented team in the conference. Personally I don't like to lick Bulls balls. I love a lot of aspects on their squad including the 17 returning starters who won 9 games last year and at one point reached #2 in the country but their most important player I can't stand. QB Matt Grothe has Reggie Ball-like symptoms of making some of the dumbest fucking decisions you will see a QB make in a game. Maybe he brings it all together for his senior season but I just don't see it happening.
PITTSBURGH PANTHERS-I know what you are saying, "Pitt can't win with a coach like Wannstedt leading the way" but I actually think they will compete in this conference because of RB Lesean McCoy and LB Scott McKillop. Both are among the top 10 at their respective position in the nation and both have the ability to control some aspect of the game. Their defense should be the best in the Big East and if they can learn how to score some TD's when in the red zone this team could surprise a lot of people including West Virginia again.
RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS-Rutgers should be able to put a lot of points on the board this season despite the loss of RB Ray Rice to the NFL. Senior QB Mike Teel has all four of his top WR's back including All-Big East Tiquan Underwood. The defense returns 8 starters but let's be honest they aren't that good. Last year they finished tied for 2nd to last in the conference and should improve even without Rice. They will go as far as Teel leads them.
FALLING BACK TEAMS:
CINCINNATI BEARCATS-Brian Kelly's program should again be solid but they won't repeat last year's #17 finish. QB Ben Mauk isn't returning for his 11th season of college football and ND transfer Demetrius Jones is recovering from a bum shoulder.
LOUISVILLE CARDINALS-Only 9 returning starters to a program slowly going down in shambles after Bobby Petrino slithered out of town, the Cardinals have a hot shot QB prospect in Hunter Cantwell.
CONNECTICUT HUSKIES-It is true that UCONN is the defending Big East co-champions and coach Randy Edsall is one of the best in the Big East at getting his team ready for battles they have no right to win. But it still is UCONN and the talent isn't there to compete.
TEAMS THAT SUCK AND BLOW AT THE SAME TIME:
SYRACUSE ORANGEMEN-Coach Robinson has finished dead last in his first 3 seasons and they still are the worst team this year by far. Until the get players like Donovan McNabb or Marvin Harrison they will not be able to compete for a bowl.
BEST GAME: WEST VIRGINIA AT PITT (November 28th)-You remember what happened last year during this contest right? All WVU had to do was beat a 28 point dog at home to go to their first ever BCS Title game and yet they completely screwed the pooch and lost. Pitt should be much better this season and the Mountaineers are looking for revenge. It should be a hell of a battle.
WORST GAME: NORTHEASTERN AT SYRACUSE (September 20th)-Watching these two teams could be hazardous to your health both mentally and physically.
MOST OVERRATED GAME: No idea(?)-I'm completely stumped on this one. Most of their games are exciting at the least.
BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER: West Virginia QB Pat White can do it all whether running the ball or throwing some perfect spirals. He is the Charlie Ward of his era.
BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER: South Florida defensive end George Selvie is a returning 1st team All-American who led the nation in tackles for loss with 31.5 with 14.5 being the quarterback variety.
BEST FRESHMAN: Pittsburgh WR Jonathan Baldwin is 6'6 and should be used as a big target in the red zone offense. A little raw coming out of high school, his talent will get him on the field quickly for coach Wanny.
MOST LIKELY TO GET ARRESTED: Willie Williams is no longer playing for Louisville after getting kicked out so this makes it a little more difficult and as far as I know there isn't a Vick in the conference. I'm going to go with Mikhail Marinovich of Syracuse. He already has been arrested once for a school break in and if we have learned anything over the years it is you can never put your trust in a Marinovich.
MOST LIKELY TO BE FIRED: Syracuse coach Greg Robinson will be gone if they finish in the Big East basement yet again as I suspect they will.
PLAYER WHO WILL BE BETTER THAN WHAT PEOPLE THINK: Rutgers left tackle Anthony Davis is just a sophomore but is a star in the making. He will be earning millions on the next level and I would die for him to be wearing a Notre Dame uniform
DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AWARD: Why are there only 8 teams in the conference? The Big East needs to add at least 2 more teams. My alma mater Georgia State is finally getting a football program in 2010 and they would be a good fit since they will be playing in the Georgia Dome and they don't know how to play defense.
THE WINNER IS: Everybody is high on South Florida this season but I don't see it. I still think West Virginia, with a healthy Pat White, is the team to beat and will be making their 3rd BCS bowl game in 4 years under White. The kid is a legend!
